If you’re new to cosplay and going to your first convention you’ve probably seen cosplay photos posted on social media and wonder how people go about getting pictures like these. If you’re new to this or not sure how things actually work then this article is for you!
(or why your pictures are not on social media an hour after it finished)
As an event photographer one of the things I’ve begun to notice is the race to be the first one to upload all of the pictures taken at an event within an hour of it finishing. Another side effect of that are people contacting the photographer asking “where are my pictures?” without any consideration for the photographer.
With the UK comic convention scene in full flow I’ve seen many requests from people on Facebook groups asking for photographers to shoot with while at a convention. This article is a basic guide to what you should be looking out for before taking on someone’s services.
There is a saying that you shouldn’t do something you love as a job as you will eventually come to hate it. Now while I don’t do event photography for a living, going to events and taking pictures it’s something that I enjoy… at least it was until recently. I’m sure most of you reading this can relate to what I am on about. We’ve all had bad experiences that can completely put us off doing something we enjoy.
